MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- As we first told you Wednesday, the United Way of Marathon County released its latest LIFE Report.
It shows trends in the county that affect the quality of life. This LIFE Report is used to set a community agenda. A number of groups use it to identify needs in the community so they can then set their fundraising agenda.
For example, the trend that has changed the most over the past decade is an increase in those using the food share program. That's also an area United Way has increased funding.
Joanne Kelly, Executive Director for United Way of Marathon County says, "United Way certainly uses the data to set its priorities and we went through a process last year to help us do that and we'll continue to use the report to measure our progress as well as help us identify those priorities."
Kelly says United Way has increased the dollars it spends on basic needs programs.. funding for family violence as well as mental health. Those are all areas they've seen an increase in need over the years.
There are also some positive trends that have steadily increased over the past decade regarding perception. For example, there is a growing acceptance of diversity.
72% of people see it as a positive thing to have different races in a community.
