Texting while driving hearing before Assembly

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW)-- A bill prohibiting drivers from texting that passed the senate last year will go before the state assembly Tuesday.

The bill would make it illegal to drive and text as the same time, and would require a minimum fine of $20 the first time you're caught.

Law enforcement say its a step in the right direction, but say its going to be difficult to enforce.

The bill only prohibits sending a text message while driving, that means reading a text message, dialing a number or typing on a GPS is legal.
