Marathon County judge leaves Rep. Jeff Wood's drunk driving case

Posted:

MADISON (AP) -- A prosecutor says a judge has removed himself from a Wisconsin lawmaker's impaired driving case.

Marathon County Assistant District Attorney Sidney Brubacher says Judge Gregory Huber recused himself in Rep. Jeff Wood's case because he served with Wood in the Legislature during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 sessions. Brubacher says he's waiting for a new judge to be assigned the case.

A message left with Huber's assistant wasn't immediately returned Friday.

Wood, a Chippewa Falls independent, has been arrested three times in 13 months for driving under the influence in Columbia, Marathon and Monroe counties. The cases in Columbia and Monroe counties are still pending.

A state Assembly committee is considering what kind of punishment the full chamber should impose on Wood.
