WEB EXTRA: Domestic Abuse Intervention Team

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- The Marathon County Domestic Abuse Intervention Team is a coordinated community response team working toward stopping domestic violence.

Lee Shipway says, "The main focus is looking at all the parts of the system that deal with domestic violence whether they're abusers or victims. Trying to make sure we keep our mission of holding the abusers accountable for their actions and offering whatever services we can to victims to try and make them safer in their homes."

The Domestic Abuse Intervention Team has been in existence for 26 years. Group members meet the first and third Tuesday of every month.

Shipway says another part of the team's mission is to try and get community awareness.
