MINNEAPOLIS – The Pointer women's basketball team moved up three spots in this week's D3hoops.com poll, coming in at No. 16.
The Pointers pushed their winning streak to 12 games last week with a road victory over UW-Whitewater and a home win Saturday against UW-Superior. Last week the Pointers averaged 67 points per game while holding opponents to 50.5 per contest, a plus-16.5 scoring margin.
Amherst (Mass.) comes in as the new No. 1 team this week, up one spot from last week, earning 19 first place votes. Kean, Illinois Wesleyan, Hope and George Fox round out the top five.
The Pointers are now the only WIAC team in the top 25, after UW-Whitewater slips from the ranking and into the "others receiving votes" category.
The Pointers will host UW-Stout in their only action this week. Action begins Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Berg Gym. Last season, the Blue Devils snapped a Pointer winning streak at 14 games, a school record.
