MINNEAPOLIS (PRESS RELEASE) – After suffering just their second loss of the season last week, the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team drops three spots in this week's D3hoops.com poll to No. 4.
The Pointers saw their 10-game win streak come to an end with a 61-58 loss to UW-Whitewater on Jan. 27, a steak that started after their only other loss of the season, also to UW-Whitewater, on Dec. 2.
Where one streak ends, another begins, as the Pointers rebounded on Saturday with a 74-43 victory against UW-Superior.
Guilford (N.C.) moves up from the No. 2 spot last week, garnering 24 first place votes to become the nation's new No. 1 team. Williams (Mass.) ranks second while Washington Univ. (Mo.) earned the remaining first place vote for a No. 3 ranking this week. UW-Whitewater, ranked fifth last week, drops one spot in the poll to No. 6 as the only other WIAC representative in the poll.
The Pointers will travel to their only opponent this week when they head to Menomonie for a Wednesday evening match-up with UW-Stout. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
