Douglas G. Wiles, 89, Wausau, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at his home.
He was born June 9, 1920 in Monico, WI to the late George and Elizabeth (Taylor) Wiles. He married Geraldine Kalouner on April 28, 1947 in Wausau. Doug Served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy.
Doug loved nature, animals, feeding the birds and being in the woods. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, astronomy, and he could recite much of the works of Shakespeare. He was an avid runner and bicyclist.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; and two daughters, Beth (Wayne) Cooper, Athens and Carol (Gary) Weiss, Aniwa; sister, Lulu Turner, Waupaca; three nephews, David (Rae) Wiles, Ted Zuidema & Ross (Deb) Turner; one niece, Jeanne (Bob) Bootz.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg will officiate. Burial will be at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home on Wednesday.
