Parents of victim react to Domke's request for plea change

MERRILL (WAOW) -- It's never easy losing a child. Especially when you have to re-live the tragedy over and over.

Rochelle Anderson's father and stepmother thought their visits to a Lincoln County court room were over after Derek Domke was sentenced to life in prison last January. But now they are forced to confront their worst fears, that his sentence will be reduced. However the couple says they believe justice for their daughter Rochelle will prevail.

"We had faith in the system before and that's never wavered," said Rochelle's father Randal Anderson. "And I have faith that it's going to go in our favor. I don't want to be here. We shouldn't have to be here."

It's been a long road for the couple. Since the body of 25 year old Rochelle was found in front of the Tomahawk gas station where she worked on Easter 2008. Since then, they say they've done everything they can to make sure Rochelle's young daughter, Izabelle, grows up happy and healthy.

"I'm not going to call it closure, that's not the right word," said Rochelle's step-mother Tara Anderson. "People talk about opening old wounds. Well the wounds never close."

No word yet on when the judge will make his ruling in the case.
