EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team could not come back from a 3-0 deficit and eventually lost to UW-Eau Claire by a score of 4-2 at Hobbs Ice Arena Friday evening.
The Blugolds took full advantage of their power plays in the first two periods by putting three scores on the board. Taylor Jenkins started off by scoring her sixth and seventh goals of the season and Jackie McKay netted her first.
For the game the Pointers had nine penalties for 18 minutes compared to the Blugolds seven for 14 minutes.
The Pointers' Erin Marvin was the only offensive for the Pointers on Friday as she scored her first goal with 5:32 left in the second period and followed up with another with 37 seconds remaining. She now has a total of nine goals on the season.
The Blugolds managed to put the game away in the third period by scoring one more goal to make it a 4-2 final.
UW-Stevens Point (10-7-2, 5-4-2 NCHA) will try to come back tomorrow evening against the same UW-Eau Claire squad. Action starts at 7 p.m. in the Hobbs Ice Arena in Eau Claire.
