MERRILL (WAOW)--17 year-old Miranda Brickner of Merrill hit the ice rink with strength and grace. She's spent years practicing ice skating, but this year she's switching gears.

For the first time, Brickner competed in ice drag racing. She goes from 0 to 60 over a 1/8 mile track of frozen ice. "People think it's such a dramatic change, you know, from ice dragging to skating, but you know it's all really just kind of an adrenaline rush and I'm an adrenaline junkie," says Brickner.

She's also a fast driver. In one race, Brickner crossed the finish line at 65.01 miles per hour. That's a new record for the four wheel drive rubber tire division. "That record has been set since probably, around,1994, I'm thinking '95. And to run that fast on a rubber tire on this ice...it's pretty amazing," says spectator, Daniel Hixon.

Brickner's dad races too and he knows things can get a little slippery That's why he gave Brickner the keys to their 300 horsepower jeep..equipped with stability steering. With the right tools and her adventurous spirit, she brings the competition.

The teen is making herself known and starting a family tradition. "I'm going to race against my dad and sister and do my best," says Brickner's younger brother, Jameson.
