DEVELOPING: RSV season in full swing

by Pam Warnke

WESTON (WAOW)-- Health leaders at one area hospital are seeing an increase in the number of children sick with Respiratory Syncytial Virus commonly known as RSV.  While many are concerned this time of year with the H1N1 and seasonal flu, RSV season also takes place in the winter.  RSV is a respiratory infection that leads to a serious cough, fever and stuffy nose.  Children under two often are at the greatest health risk and those who are premature, suffer from other respiratory disease or congenital heart defects are even more susceptible.

Tonight, hear from a family whose son was admitted to the hospital this week with RSV.  How they knew his illness was more serious then a cold and the latest on how he's doing now.  Plus, what you can do to prevent your kids from getting sick.  That story tonight on Newsline 9.
