Wis. Senate passes breast-feeding rights

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Senate has passed a bill granting mothers in Wisconsin the right to breast-feed anywhere.

Under the measure, anyone who interferes with a breast-feeding mother in any location she's authorized to be would face up to $200 in forfeitures.

The bill is designed to protect women who breast-feed in malls and restaurants from harassment. More than 40 other states have similar laws.

The Assembly passed the bill in September. The Senate passed it on a voice vote. It now goes to Gov. Jim Doyle, who can sign it into law or veto it.

Doyle spokesman Adam Collins says the governor will have to review the bill.
