La Crosse Police release statement on finding Craig Meyers' body
LA CROSSE (WXOW)-- La Crosse Police release a statement on the recovery of the body of Craig Meyers' on Tuesday.
The following is statement released Tuesday evening:
On February 16, 2010, at approximately 4:41 p.m., the body of Craig Meyers', a 21 year old reported missing on February 14th, was recovered from the Mississippi River, by personnel from the La Crosse Dive Unit, and the La Crosse Fire Department. The body was recovered from about 25 feet of water, near a point where King St. would intersect the river, about 20 feet from shore.
The body will be taken to Hastings, MN for a forensic autopsy on February 17th, or 18th.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and further details that may develop will be released as they become available.
Chief Kondracki would like to extend his personal condolences to the Meyers' family and the many friends of Craig, during this time, and express the appreciation of the La Crosse Police Department to the many groups and individuals who assisted the family and the department in this incident.
