Everest 8th graders step out of the classroom for history lesson
WESTON (WAOW) -- More than 400 8th graders from D.C. Everest competed in the annual History Fair.
Students enter their projects in seven categories include exhibits, documentaries and websites.
Some students even performed plays, acting out important events. The topic this year is "Innovations in History."
8th grader Jonathan says, "The telephone was a big innovation. Some people are doing that. Cars and a lot of people are doing people themselves, like I'm doing Coleman Hawkins, who was a Jazz innovator."
Students say they learn about more than just history putting these projects together.
8th grader Caroline Gasao says, "We learned a lot of life skills, like it's really good not to procrastinate because when you procrastinate, you don't get things done, so it really helps us in future projects to do well."
Not all students compete, but those who do have the chance to move on to regional's in Stevens Point.
