Authorities trying to determine if pilot packed his plane
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Authorities are trying to determine if the man who flew his small plane into an Austin, Texas, office building put anything in the plane to cause more damage by impact and fire.
Police and fire investigators are picking through the wreckage at the office building and at Joseph Stack's about six miles away. Stack apparently set fire to the house before taking off in his plane. The home's roof is caved in and its windows are blown out.
The crash killed Stack and at least one worker in the building that housed offices of the Internal Revenue Service. In an online rant, Stack had lashed out at the IRS.
One law enforcement official says investigators are trying to find out if marital problems set off Stack's suicide mission. His wife is expected to speak to reporters today.
