WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Wausau Police say the 25-year-old man arrested Friday for impersonating a peace officer at the mall, is an isolated incident.
Deputy Chief Bryan Hilts says, "Given the appearance of the subject, there is no way anyone would believe he was an officer."
The man did have a set of handcuffs, but no weapons or badge.
A man was arrested after impersonating an officer at the Wausau Center Mall, Friday.
The 25-year-old has not been formally charged with a crime, so Newsline 9 will not release his name at this time.
Officers were dispatched to the Wausau Center Mall around noon, Friday. According to a Wausau Police Department report, the 25-year-old was previously banned from the mall.
When officers located the 25-year-old, he was taken to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office jail for impersonating a peace officer.
