LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado student is in critical condition following a shooting in a middle school parking lot yesterday.
A second student was treated at a hospital and released.
Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink says the teacher who tackled the gunman is a hero. But David Benke says he regrets the shooter got a second round off before he was subdued.
Bruco Eastwood, who has arrests for menacing, assault, domestic violence and driving under the influence, is due in court today.
A man identifying himself as Eastwood's father was at a loss for words. Calling it a "pretty dumb thing to do," he told The Associated Press he felt bad for the people involved.
The school is about three miles from Columbine High School, the site of one of the nation's deadliest school shootings in 1999.
