Wisconsin Dems blast Walker pledge to create 250K jobs

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is blasting Scott Walker's promise to create 250,000 jobs by 2015 if he's elected governor.

Party Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday the number has "zero credibility" and that Walker made it up "out of thin air."

The Republican Walker made the claim Tuesday at a gathering of Wisconsin businessmen. The Milwaukee County executive said he'd create the jobs through a series of steps to reduce government influence on business.

He offered few specifics, saying those details would emerge during the campaign.

A Walker spokeswoman said Wednesday her staff was preparing a response to Tate's allegations.

Former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann is challenging Walker for the GOP nomination. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is running for the Democrats.
