WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Rapids area takes some big steps toward better communication through technology.

The Community Foundation hosts a workshop called the Information Revolution.

With guest speaker Christopher Csikszentmihalyi, the Director of the MIT'S Center for Future Civic Media, participants brainstorm ways to bridge what he calls the digital divide.

That comes down to actively communicating.

Csikszentmihalyi: "What's great about the new technology is it allows everyone to become an information producer, putting old information produces out of work sometimes, like news channels, but in that process what's exciting is that people develop a really different relationship to the technology where they see it as something they can take control of."

The Community Foundation plans to take ideas and use them to create better communication within South Wood County.. whether it's through the internet or other sources.
