WAUSAU (WAOW) -- NTC leaders in Wausau are making sure the families of their eight Haitian students will have money to buy basic things like food and water.

Since the Earthquake in Haiti, NTC staff, students and community members raised nearly $10,000.

Thursday, the President of NTC presented the eight students with the check. That money will be split evenly among the eight students who are all happy to help their relatives in need.

Serg Buno Ulysse says, "Some of the houses collapsed and they need somewhere to stay and that money will help them and in some cases to find a place to stay until they have the opportunity to build a house because it's hard. It's a really hard situation."

$2,500 of that was raised by students at John Muir and Horace Mann Middle schools.
