Wis. DNR sets up deer management meetings

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin wildlife officials will hold a series of public deer management meetings around the state next month.

Discussion topics will include the importance of a sustainable deer herd, the 2010 season structure, increasing hunter participation and new deer research initiatives. The state Department of Natural Resources this week announced a $2 million effort to better track deer and research their habitat.

Each meeting will open with a video presentation, followed by an informal round-table discussion.

The meetings begin March 8 and run through the middle of the month. A list of times and locations can be found at http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/ce/news/2010_DMU_meetings.html
