(WAOW)- The state individual wrestling tournament wrapped up in Madison on Saturday night at the Kohl Center. In all, three guys won individual titles from our area. In division one, at 145 lbs, Marshfield's Brad Dolezal finished his season as an unbeaten state champ after beating Wisconsin Rapids' Zak Benitz in three overtimes 2-1. At 130 lbs in division two, Tomahawk's Zach Zehner repeated as state champ after winning 6-2. Also in D2, at 189 lbs, Mosinee's Dylan Iczkowski won his match 10-7 to claim the state title.
On the ice, the Wausau West hockey team beat SPASH 5-1 in a sectional final to advance to the team's first state tournament in seven years. The Warriors will face a familiar opponent in Wisconsin Rapids in the quarterfinals. The Raiders beat Onalaska 3-2 in overtime to advance.
In sectional gymnastics, SPASH finished second at the Rice Lake Sectional to advance to state in Wisconsin Rapids. In all around scores, both SPASH's Megan Courtney and Wisconsin Rapids' Tabi Dorshorst qualified for state.
