UPDATE: Jobless, highway funds OK'd

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama has quickly signed a bill into law that means 2,000 furloughed Transportation Department workers can go back to work Wednesday.

The Senate passed a $10 billion measure tonight that also maintains unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless.

The legislation had been blocked since last week by Kentucky Republican Jim Bunning.
