Central Wisconsin Storm falls in state semifinals to Green Bay 3-2
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay East scored three goals in just over two minutes at the end of the first period and start of the second in a 3-2 victory over the Mosinee in the WIAA state girls hockey semifinals Friday.
The co-op Ice Bears (24-4) advanced to their first state title game after scoring twice in the final 46 seconds of the first period to take a 2-1 lead and adding a third goal 1:17 into the second.
Forwards Brittany Eland and Brittany Baukenecht scored the first-period goals for Green Bay East.
Forward Lauren Roehtlisberger added the second-period marker for a 3-1 lead.
Kylie Gazzolo gave co-op Mosinee (24-3) a 1-0 lead in the first. Cassidy Daley added a goal early in the third.
Lauren Hopps made 31 saves for Green Bay East. Hillary Drake had 30 stops for Mosinee.
