STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - Athletic Director Frank O'Brien announced today Melissa Martin has been named the new head coach of the women's golf program at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
"We are thrilled to have Melissa join our staff," said O'Brien. "Her experience in the world of golf and her passion for the sport make her an excellent choice for our program. We are excited about the future for our team under her direction."
Martin was a two-time letter winner with the UW-Madison women's golf team, where she competed on the national level for the Badgers.
"I want to continue improving the strong program that has already been established and to make that happen we'll continue to recruit quality student athletes," said Martin. "This is a great opportunity for me to stay involved in golf and I'm looking forward to making this a first class program with the help of some great mentors."
A native of Wisconsin Rapids and a graduate of Lincoln High School, Martin currently works as a Customer Service Rep and an Agent at Community Insurance in Amherst and Iola.
