Making science fun

By Heather Sawaski

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- Classroom learning came to life Saturday in Stevens Point. At the annual Science Extravaganza Day, kids got some hands an experience in all things science.

It was sponsored by the high school FFA chapter. University professors, teachers, and students put on demonstrations and activities to show how fun the subject can be. Kids got to get gooey and tackle the basics of buoyancy, things they may not learn from a textbook.

"It's something they don't always get to see simply because some of the things we do cost to much for a classroom teacher to do," explained FFA Advisor Ione Hausler. "So they can experience it first hand and live here."

It was the 6th annual Science Extravaganza Day. The money raised will go towards FFA science and agriculture programming.
