WAKE UP WISCONSIN (WAOW)--  Dennis Schenk and his dog, Beck, joined Dolores and I for our weekly Pet Pause segment. Dennis & Beck are part of Illinois-Wisconsin Search & Rescue Dogs, a non-profit organization.

Beck is a 7 year old German Shepard, he assists law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel and other responsible agencies in finding lost and missing people. The dogs are trained for scent specific training or tracking. They're able to follow the scent of one individual regardless of how many other people have contaminated the area. The dogs are also trained for human remains detection on both land and water.

As a non-profit organization, everyone involved is a volunteer. They are on call 24/7. All training expenses, seminars, and travels are the dog owner's expense.
