WIAA Tourney Prepares to Tip-off

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- In a year of change for the WIAA state boys basketball tournament, plenty of familiar faces are headed to the Kohl Center.

Yes, the 95th annual tournament will look a little different when it opens Thursday.

For starters, the event is the week ahead of the state girls championships for just the second time. And the WIAA has changed the order of the games, with the Division 3 and 4 semifinals changing places and the Division 2 and 3 finals swapping spots.

Defending champion Madison Memorial is the only one of the eight Division 1 teams that played at state last year. In Division 2, ninth-ranked Maple Northwestern is the only team back in the field. In Division 3, defending champion Racine St. Catherine's headlines the bracket.

In Division 4, top-ranked Randolph makes its 13th state appearance as the favorite to win its eighth state title.
