(WAOW)- The Newman Cardinals are just a couple days away from heading down to the state tournament.
Newman heading to Madison for the seventh time in school history.
And the team hit the court Monday for practice for the first time since their sectional championship.
The Cards getting set to take on Weston at the Kohl Center, and not only will the big court be an adjustment, but Newman has to get ready for an early start, a 9:05 am tip in the first game of the day.
Says Head Coach Tom Weinkauf, "Hopefully they can get up and out of bed, but once you walk in the gym, you don't know what time it is, could be 1, could be 8 at night, you're just playing the game."
Says Junior Megan Connolly, "I think we're gonna have to wake up in the mindset that we need to be prepared and ready to go just like it's any other game, not matter what time it is."
Says Senior Katie Siewert, "It's gonna be important that we all get a good night sleep beforehand even though that's gonna be tough with the nerves, but to get up and get moving and get our bodies ready to go is gonna be a huge thing."
