(WAOW)- The Wausau West girls basketball team is heading to the state tournament this week for the first time in school history.
The Warriors earning an OT win over rival Marshfield last Friday before topping River Falls in the sectional final.
And to help get ready for the big Kohl Center court which is ten feet longer than a regulation high school court, the Warriors hit the floor at UW-Marathon this afternoon to get used to how it will be come Thursday night.
Says Senior Courtney Falk, "This is helping us a lot getting a feel for how our plays are gonna be different, and how much extra spacing we'll have which I think will be to our advantage with rebounding and playing our kind of defense."
Says Head Coach Patrick Galligan, "Our athleticism should help us, in terms of game tactics. I know Middleton wants to press and cause us difficulty up the court, and hopefully we'll be able to exploit that with more space on the court offensively as well as defensively."
Says Junior Amanda Fischer, "You can definitely feel it right away when we were doing our first passing drills, you can feel it, I'm a little more tired more quickly, but I think it's really good for us."
