James (Jim) F. Costa

James (Jim) F. Costa, 80, 4705 Stettin Drive, Wausau, passed away Thursday March 25, 2010, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jim was born March 14, 1930, in Wausau, son of the late Julius and Bessie (Dustin) Costa.  He served his country honorable in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was married to his beloved wife Denise on March 8, 1949, in Cherry Point, N.C.; dearest father to Michael, Jay (Dianne) and James M. Costa; a proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Ben, Joe, Brett, Temra, Heather and Austin; five great-grandchildren, Derek, Nathan, Alex, Jaden and Sya.

Prior to his retirement, Jim was a local businessman, owner of Lakewood Sporting Goods and Omni Travel.  He was a member of the Wausau Elk's Club, Noon Optimists, past member of the Wausau Chamber of Commerce, School Board, Wausau West Side Businessman's Association, past president of the Wausau Skeet & Trap Club, Rib Mountain Ski Club and a former Scoutmaster.  He traveled extensively with his loving wife Denise, enjoying their many adventures together and days of relaxation by the ocean.

Jim was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers but his true love was the outdoors.  His passion was spending time with his family and friends hunting and fishing.  No matter what time of the year, from April Turkey hunting, Spring Walleye fishing up North to deer hunting in the fall he enjoyed  it all.

He will always be remembered for his kindness, compassion, gentle heart and friendship and especially his love for his family and his faithful companion, Hannah, who was by his side always. Jim is survived by his sister, Phyllis (Leonard) Filiatreaux and family.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Denise, sister Shirley Kuehl and two grandchildren, Christy and Kelly Costa.

Visitation will be at 4pm until the memorial services at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau, WI.
