KRONENWETTER (WAOW) -- Police arrest two Marathon County women on charges stemming from an illegal DVD operation.

38 year old Kim Maciaz and 21 year old Megan Chenier, both of Kronenwetter, have each been charged with one count of Failure to disclose the manufacturing of recordings. According to investigators, the pair illegally copied DVD's, then sold them for profit online.

Kronenwetter police learned of the operation back in February from investigators in Milwaukee. They've also been working closely with investigators representing the Motion Picture Association in Los Angeles. Police gathered evidence, then raided women's home in Kronenwetter on Sunday.

"We got into the place and it was just like, wow," said Kronenwetter Police Chief Dan Joling. "The magnitude of what was there was just unbelievable. I've been in law enforcement now for 35 plus years and I've never had an occasion to work something like this."

Police seized thousands of blank DVDs, plastic cases, hard drives, and some label making machines.

The women face up to 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted on the felony charges. But since they made sales across state lines, they could also face federal charges. The pair is due back in Marathon County court on April 19th.
