APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- A Menasha teacher convicted of having sexual contact with a boy at an Appleton parochial school is scheduled for sentencing.
Daniel R. Callan, 27, faces a maximum penalty of more than 37 years in prison when he is sentenced Wednesday.
He pleaded no contest in November to charges of child enticement involving sexual contact and causing a child to view sexual activity. In exchange prosecutors dropped two counts of indecent exposure.
Prosecutors say Callan used conversations about sex in the fifth-grade classroom to groom the 10-year-old for sexual encounters. He taught at St. Bernadette's Elementary School .
A message left for Callan's defense attorney was not immediately returned.
Roughly 100 people gathered in Columbia Park in Marshfield Tuesday evening for a vigil in response to the events in Charlottesville Saturday.
