UW-SP Vaults To 4th In Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND (WAOW) - The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point jumped 17 spots in the latest Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, ranking fourth in the final winter standings. The Pointers sit in fourth place with 515.50 points after winning the men's basketball championship and placing fifth in the women's basketball tournament.

Other strong showings by men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track and field and wrestling gave the Pointers 465.50 points from the winter sports alone.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each school's NCAA Division III postseason finish in up to nine sports for men and nine for women. Each national champion received 100 points.
