Rita R. Konkol, age 85, of the town of Sharon, died Friday evening, April 2, 2010, at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, following a brain aneurysm.
She was born on March 18, 1925, in Stevens Point, to the late John and Frances (Lukasavage) Maslowski. On April 9, 1943, she was married to Rudolph Konkol in Stevens Point.
The couple lived in Chicago after World War II for four years, then moved to Stevens Point where they settled on the farm they lived on for over 60 years.
She was a homemaker and member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and trips to the casino.
Survivors include her husband, Rudolph of the town of Sharon; daughter, Sharon (John) Pionkowski of Stevens Point; son, Duane Konkol of Santa Ana, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Renette Konkol of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Dr. Tenille (Brian) Nowak of Stevens Point, Keith Konkol of Fla., Kelly (Chad) Molski of Stevens Point, and Kyle (fiancée, Kristie Marx) Konkol of Clintonville; great-grandchildren, Brennan Molski, Lexie Molski, Benjamin Konkol, and Katie and Kristie Flisakowski; sisters, Virginia Stencel and Rosalie (Lester) Erdman both of Greenfield; sisters-in-law, Bernice Rogoski, Helen Konkol and Dorothy Konkol all of Stevens Point, and Irene (Lester) DeMeyer of Plover; and brother-in-law, Clarence Zinda of Rosholt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Leroy Konkol; brothers, Norbert (Adeline), Leonard (Lorraine) and John Maslowski; and sister, Margaret Zinda.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Rita's name.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time for Mass.
