Man in custody for threat on airplane

DENVER, CO. (ABC NEWS) -- Federal air marshals have a man in custody after an incident onboard a United Airlines flight from Washington, DC to Denver, Colorado.

ABC News reports that air marshals onboard United flight 663 subdued a man, who threatened to light his shoes on fire after a flight attendant noticed smoking coming out of a bathroom.

The flight landed safely at Denver International Airport and Mohammed al Modadi, a member of the Qatar Embassy in Washington D-C was taken into custody.  He was questioned but no explosives were found.

Some say, he laughed off the incident.

Jane Smith, who's husband was on the flight says, "Some guy got mad in first class and had a tantrum, was the way he described it and was kind of chuckling about it."

Security at our nation's airports has been tight since a similar airplane scare on Christmas day when Umar Farouk Abdulmatallub strapped explosives to his legs on a Delta Airlines flight headed to Detroit.

Even more worrisome, a CIA report to Congress, in February, warned that an attempted terrorist attack against the U-S within three to six months was "certain".  This incident shows the government and air marshals are taking the threats seriously.
