Military, Oshkosh ink $19M deal for truck repairs

OSHKOSH (AP) -- The defense arm of Oshkosh Corp. has received four U.S. Army contracts worth $19 million to repair and deliver nearly 200 military vehicles.

Oshkosh Defense said Thursday the awards extend existing military contracts that will now wrap up in January.

The Oshkosh, Wis.-based company builds heavy-duty vehicles, including a popular class of mine-resistant trucks that are specially designed to handle the rougher terrain of Afghani battlefields.

When vehicles are damaged, Oshkosh can strip them down, upgrade them and refurbish them to like-new condition. The latest deal calls for the company to deliver about 200 such vehicles, including heavy-duty transport trucks and trailers.

Shares of Oshkosh rose 70 cents, or 2 percent, to $41 in morning trading Thursday.
