Mary E. Gjermundson

Mary E. Gjermundson, age 97, Wittenberg, died on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on February 2, 1913 in Elderon, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary (Krueger) Scheffel. On June 8, 1933, Mary was united in marriage to Theodore Gjermundson in Menominee, MI. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1967. Mary was employed by the Homme Home for Boys as well as Homme Home of Wittenberg until her retirement. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg, the Wittenberg Historical Society, and while at Homme she was active in the activities department. Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking and baking cookies for family and friends. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her family. Survivors include two children, Gerald (Opal) Gjermundson, Summerfield, FL, Sharon (Richard) De Roach, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Brian (Lynne) De Roach, Michael De Roach and Todd (Jackie) De Roach; seven great-grandchildren, Justine, Elliott, Olivia, Eric, Emily, Benjamin and Connor. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy and Catherine and one brother, Fred. The Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Amy Meyer will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Monday from 12Noon until the time of service at the church. Schmidt Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
