DNR wants input on gypsy moth spraying

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin environmental officials want public input on a plan to spray gypsy moths from the air this spring.

The Department of Natural Resources will start spraying early next month. The effort will cover more than 5,000 acres in portions of Brown, Dane, Menominee, Milwaukee, Oconto, Outagamie, Racine, Rock, Sauk, Washington, and Waukesha counties.

DNR biologists have completed an assessment of the spraying's effects on the environment and concluded it poses no threat.

Still, the agency will take public comments on the assessment through April 27.
