GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin-Green Bay has formally introduced new men's basketball coach Brian Wardle.
The school said Thursday the 30-year-old Wardle becomes the youngest active head coach in NCAA Division I basketball.
Wardle replaces former Phoenix coach Tod Kowalczyk, who left for Toledo last month after going 136-112 in eight seasons at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Wardle had been an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay for five years. His duties included recruiting and player evaluation.
He says he's "excited and humbled" by the opportunity. He says being a head coach has been a lifelong dream.
Wardle was a former standout at Marquette, where he currently ranks as the school's sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,690 career points.
