First female police chief for Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS (AP) -- The city of Chippewa Falls will have its first female police chief Monday.

Wendy Stelter is formally sworn into office.

The 48-year-old Stelter spent the past 24 years with the Menomonie Police Department. She replaces Chief Wayne Nehring, who retired last December.

Stelter is a Stanley-area native and grew up in Chippewa County.
