UPDATE: Man arrested, charges expected in deputy's death
VILAS COUNTY (WAOW)--The Wisconsin State Patrol identifies the man who allegedly pulled out in front of a deputy causing a fatal accident.
According to a DOT press release, 49-year-old James Peontke was parked on the shoulder of Highway 47 near Woodruff when authorities say he pulled his truck out in front of Deputy Kory Dahlvig. Dahlvig was responding to a Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police call and hit the back of Peontke's truck head on.
Peontke was treated and released with minor injuries. He was then arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
Peontke is scheduled to be in court at 1:00 PM Monday.
