Ceremony to remember killed, injured Wisconsin workers

MADISON (AP) -- A ceremony at the state Capitol on Wednesday will remember Wisconsin workers who died and were injured on the job last year.

Wisconsin State AFL-CIO President David Newby, union members and Jim Schultz, executive director of the Wisconsin Committee on Occupational Safety and Health will participate in the ceremony.

According to a report from the AFL-CIO, 93,500 people were injured and 77 people were killed in job-related hazards in Wisconsin in 2008.

The remembrance will take place at noon in the Assembly parlor and is one of hundreds scheduled around the world to mark Workers Memorial Day.
