(WAOW)- Former Iola-Scandinavia star Austen Lane got the call of a lifetime this past Saturday that he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 5th round.
And the news hit home even more earlier tonight.
A full fire engine escort and all to officially send the former Murray State defensive end off to Jacksonville as he'll head to rookie orientation this weekend.
And as big crowd was there to greet him as well at the high school, Lane still says this whole experience is still a bit surreal.
Says Lane, "I think once I get on the plane and head to Jacksonville it will officially sink in but look at all the people that came out, I havn't seen some of these people in years, it's just really great to have the whole community back me. Coming from a small town, a lot of people said I couldn't do it but I have these people right here that told me I could do it, so having them come and show me thanks, it means everything in the world to me."
