TAYLOR COUNTY (PRESS RELEASE)-- A man suffers a gunshot wound in a shooting in Taylor County on Monday.
On Monday, the Taylor County Sheriff's Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call at about 2:15 P.M. from a Town of Jump River address. When the dispatcher answered the call, no one was on the line. A short time later, there was a second call from the same address and again, no one was on the line.
A Taylor County Deputy Sheriff was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, he located what appeared to be blood.
While the Sheriff's Department was assessing the scene, the Dispatch Center received a telephone call from Rusk County authorities indicating that a male subject, with a gunshot wound to the stomach had been delivered to the Rusk County Hospital by a female. Rusk County officials say the victim and the female indicated that the injury had occurred in the Gilman or Jump River area in Taylor County. It was determined that he injury to the victim had taken place at the residence of the original 911 calls in Taylor County.
This incident remains under investigation. This does not appear to be a random incident and there is no reason to believe other residents in the area are in any danger.
