Doris Youtsos Glaser, 70, passed away on May, 1, 2010 at home under the care of Asera Care Hospice, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born on May 17, 1939 in Wausau, WI. She is the daughter of the late Gust and Georgia Youtsos.
Doris earned her undergraduate degree in English and graduate degree in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University. Doris applied these degrees in her position as a therapist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill, until the time of her death. Previously, Doris owned and operated Buergers Gifts in downtown Wausau from 1978 to 1992. Buergers Gifts served as Wausau's place to go for fine gifts and collectibles, and was an expression of Doris' appreciation for beautiful mementos.
Doris was a true sports fan, especially when it came to football. Her two favorite teams to watch were the University of Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. She also loved her grand-dog Mattie, a very loving Lhasa Apso.
Doris is survived by her two children, G. Nicholas Glaser, Alexandria, Virginia and Dr. Dina Glaser, Orlando, Florida; her three step-sons Merle and his wife, Dana Glaser, Wausau, and their children Tahnee Milwaukee, and James, Wausau, Michael and his wife, Laura Glaser, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Robert Church, Iowa City, Iowa.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. John The Baptist Episcopal Church, 330 McClellan St., Wausau. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
