WISCONSIN (WAOW)--Governor Jim Doyle signed a bill that allows the state superintendent to ban stereotypical school symbols. If someone in the school district files a complaint, the state superintendent may choose to hold a hearing. Then, if the superintendent finds the nickname or logo discriminatory, the school board must drop its use within a year. Mosinee High School still uses the Indian nickname. The superintendent says no one filed any complaints since the bill passed.
