(WAOW)- Fresh off a playoff appearance in their inaugural season, the semi-pro Central Wisconsin Spartans are ready to kick off a new year.
The team had one of the highest scoring offenses in the Northern Elite Football League in 2009.
Amongst the key returnees this spring are QB Anthony Johnson and wide receiver Jon Krull, who both tallied league-leading totals in yards and TD's for their respective positions last year.
Says Wide Receiver Jon Krull, "Just coming into this season, we got a year under our belts, knowing the plays and knowing what guys can do what and that's just gonna help being a couple steps ahead of the game this year than we were last year."
Says Wide Receiver Frank Minervini, "We're really experienced on offense, all eleven of our starters played some kind of collegiate sport, we're just building on last year."
Says Quarterback Anthony Johnson, "We got a couple new players too which is great, all I can say is we ready for 2010."
The spartans play an exhibition game Saturday at 4pm at DC Everest, before opening the regular season next Saturday, May 15th, hosting Eau Claire.
