Pointer men in third after day one of WIAC Track Championships

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (PRESS RELEASE)--Nineteen-time defending champion, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse leads the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship following the first of two days of competition at UW-River Falls' Ramer Field.

The Eagles have totaled 75 team points to outdistance the second-place sum of 52 points by UW-Oshkosh. UW-Stevens Point is third with 37 points, UW-Whitewater fourth with 33 points, UW-Eau Claire fifth with 29 points, UW-Platteville sixth with 26 points, UW-Stout seventh with 17 points and UW-River Falls and UW-Superior are tied for eighth with two points.

UW-La Crosse claimed three individual titles during the first day of events. Paul Moran secured the 10,000-meter run for the second time in his career with a time of 31:16.40. He also won the event in 2007.

Kellen McCrary was victorious in the long jump with a leap of 23-6 3/4, while Dave Pergande earned the pole vault with a height of 15-5.

UW-Oshkosh's Alan German produced a winning throw of 183-9 in the javelin and the Titans claimed the 4x800-meter relay for the fourth straight year with a time of 7:46.35.

UW-Eau Claire's Chris Wirtz won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:14.39, while UW-Stout's Sean Larson recorded a first-place finish in the hammer throw with a fling of 201-3.
