La Crosse claims 20th straight men's title; Pointers finish fourth in WIAC Outdoor Track

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (PRESS RELEASE)—The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won its 20th straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at UW-River Falls' Ramer Field on May 8. 

The Eagles scored 184.5 points to win the title. UW-Oshkosh finished second with 175 points followed by UW-Whitewater 120, UW-Stevens Point 104, UW-Eau Claire 97, UW-Platteville 84, UW-Stout 67, UW-River Falls 19.5 and UW-Superior 7.

UW-La Crosse won four titles on Saturday. Pat Bryan won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.12, Brian Shonat took the 1,500-meter title with a time of 3:56.31 and Andy Novak won the shot put with a throw of 54-4. The Eagles also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.79.

UW-Oshkosh took home five first place finishes. Ben Zill won two events; the 400-meters in 48.36 and the 400-meter hurdles in 52.83. Brent Jude won the 100-meters in 10.74 and Nate Stymiest took the top spot in the 5,000-meters in 14:45.05. The Titans also won the 4x100-meter relay in 42.18.

UW-Whitewater won three individual titles. Pat Lockington took the decathlon title with 6.351 points. Tom Fisher won the high jump with a leap of 6-8 ¼ and Shaun Davis won the discus with a throw of 170-10.

UW-Stout's Sam Floor won the 200-meters in 22.22 and UW-Stevens Point's David Litsheim won the 800-meters in 1:54.41.
